What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check in anytime after 3 P.M. and please plan to check out by 9 A.M. If you happen to check out earlier, please let us know so that we can get a head start on the cleaning.
Are pets allowed?
We do not accept pets.
What is the maximum number of people allowed to stay in the cottages?
No more than six people per cottage, please.
How are the cottages heated?
Each cabin has a woodstove in the living area with firewood provided. The bathrooms are equipped with electric baseboards.
Do the cottages have air conditioning?
No, but fans are provided in case we have unusually warm weather.
Do the cottages have televisions, hair dryers, microwaves?
No.
Are the cottages clean?
Yes!
Where can we get our laundry done?
There are two laundromats nearby in the village.
What should we bring?
Bring toys, layered clothing, bug repellent, binoculars if you want them, personal care products.
How far are you from Acadia National Park?
The park has many entrances. We are ten minutes by car from Seawall and Ship's Harbor and several fine hikes up the mountains on the southwestern side of the Island. The carriage paths can be accessed from the Eagle Lake parking lot which is about 20 minutes away by car. You must have a pass to enter the Park!
How far are you from Bar Harbor?
We are about 25 minutes by car from Bar Harbor.
How far are you from the ocean?
The town of Southwest Harbor has three public town docks with parking and they are five minutes away by car.
Do you have a grocery store in town?
Yes. There is a small supermarket, an IGA, on the way into town which is five minutes away by car. And another store, Gott's, a five minute drive to the south, also by car.
Do you have internet access?
Free WiFi internet access is available throughout the property.
Do you rent bicycles or canoes?
No, but there are plenty of island-wide businesses that do.
Where can we get a fishing license?
The town office located over the police station will sell you a fishing license for one day, three days or seven days.
Where do most of your guests come from?
We have had guests from nearly every state in the union from California to Maryland. Most of our guests arrive by car from the east coast - anywhere from Florida to Massachusetts. We also have guests from the mid-west, especially Ohio. We have had people from as far away as Switzerland and Sweden.
How are the kitchens / cottages stocked?
Appliances include a refrigerator, electric range, coffee maker and toaster. The cupboards hold pots and pans, including a lobster pot, cast iron frypans, baking casseroles, sheet pans, pie plates, a good inventory of cooking and eating utensils including sharp kitchen knives, eating and serving dishes, glassware and wine bottle openers. We supply the dish washing soap, garbage can liners and coffee filters. We do NOT supply tinfoil, paper towels, plastic wrap or any food except salt and pepper. We supply the firewood and kindling and propane for the grills. There is a bar of soap and one roll of toilet paper supplied in the bathroom.
